Just installed jira standalone, getting internal server errors on dashboard

forums-5
Hi, I've just tried installing jira on my local machine. I had troubles after I clicked submit on the 3rd setup stage; I couldn't access anything on http://localhost:8080/ despite shutting down and restarting jira. So I thought I'd try and start again. I deleted the folder I'd set to be my jira.home and then recreated it....probably a mistake!

Having rebooted my machine, I've started up jira and now I can actually login to the system dashboard. But in the "Activity Stream" and "Assigned to me" sections I'm getting an internal server error. Here is an example of one of them:

{code}
An internal server error occurred when requesting resource <a target="_parent" href="http://localhost:8080/rest/gadget/1.0/issueTable/jql?_=1279109316826&amp;jql=assignee+%3D+currentUser()+AND+resolution+%3D+unresolved+ORDER+BY+priority+DESC%2C+created+ASC&amp;num=10&amp;addDefault=true&amp;enableSorting=true&amp;sortBy=null&amp;paging=true&amp;startIndex=0&amp;showActions=true">http://localhost:8080/rest/gadget/1.0/issueTable/jql?_=1279109316826&amp;jql=assignee+%3D+currentUser()+AND+resolution+%3D+unresolved+ORDER+BY+priority+DESC%2C+created+ASC&amp;num=10&amp;addDefault=true&amp;enableSorting=true&amp;sortBy=null&amp;paging=true&amp;startIndex=0&amp;showActions=true</a>
{code}

Clicking on the link gives the following XML:

{code}
<status>
<status-code>500</status-code>
<message>
com.atlassian.util.concurrent.LazyReference$InitializationException: com.atlassian.jira.util.RuntimeIOException: org.apache.lucene.store.NoSuchDirectoryException: directory '/usr/local/jira/home/caches/indexes/issues' does not exist
</message>
</status>
{code}

Any ideas what I can do to resolve this? Or if not...what is the correct approach for completing restarting the setup process if this is necessary?

wipe the home folder and the database folder (assuming youre standalone), check for pesky .lck and .lock files....

Thanks, that solved the immediate problem. I've now got another bigger problem though but I'll create a new topic as its completely unrelated.

Hi,

Try to reindex first. Sometimes it can be that simple.

Batmads
Just had this exact issue with Jira 5.2.2.. Reindexing resolved it for me.

Thanks a lot
