Proper use of "isPopupLink" ???

forums-5
I'm trying to get my top navigation bar link to popup in a seperate window (equiv  target=_blank).  According to the sparse documentation I've found, the following should work, but it doesn't.  What am I doing wrong?

TIA

        <web-item key="import_link" name="My Link" section="system.top.navigation.bar" system="true" weight="100">
                <label key="Import CRD" />
                <tooltip key="Import CRD" />
                <link linkId="my_link" accessKey="M">http://t34app/crdtojira/</link>
                <param name="isPopupLink" value="true" />
                <param name="windowHeight" value="200" />
                <param name="windowWidth" value="510" />
                <condition class="com.atlassian.jira.plugin.webfragment.conditions.UserIsSysAdminCondition"/>
        </web-item>

According to documentation - http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Web+Fragments isPopupLink is only available for system.user.navigation.bar

Hopefully it helps

Yes, I've viewed that and *every other* shred of info related to this, but NOTHING shows an actual example of the "IsPopuplin" parm contained within the <web-item>.

According to all the documents I've scanned, my xml fragment is syntactically correct.    I'd try contacting support,  but they always refer me to the forums, where everyone else gets directed to ask the same questions.

So, where I'm at now is

1.  My code is not properly formed.
2.  The "isPopupLink" just doesn't work

I managed to track down the correct file to modify and added the following code, but still no popup.   There must be something else that I am missing.  Here's my newly adjusted code.

    <web-section key="jira-help" name="Help Section" location="system.user.options" i18n-name-key="webfragments.user.options.section.help.name" system="true" weight="200"/>

                <web-item key="importlink" name="Import" section="system.user.options/jira-help" system="true" weight="100">
                        <label key="Import CRD" />
                        <tooltip key="Import CRD" />
                        <link linkId="import_link">http://nd632/crdtojira/LoadCRD.aspx</link>
                        <param name="isPopupLink" value="true" />
                        <param name="windowHeight" value="200" />
                        <param name="windowWidth" value="510" />
                </web-item>

Re: Proper use of "isPopupLink" ???

I'm about at my wits end with this problem.  I've tried every suggestions out there.  The link shows up and will go to the page, but not as a popup.  I don't get any error messages of any sort.

1.  I've followed all instructions out there(few as they may be) and the not in the "system-user-nav-bar-sections.xml,   "All linkId atributes of link elements must not contain spaces!
  Reason: linkIds are used for window names for pop-ups. See JRA-12387 for more details. "

2.  I 've checked and recheck my syntax numerous times.
3.  Does it matter what section the "web-item" is located in?
4.  Does the ordering of the tags inside the "web-item" make a differences.
5.  Do any other tags negate the "isPopupLink"?
6.  Does anything in my <param name="isPopupLink" value="true"/>  have the incorrect case?
7.  Doesn't having a corporate license entitle us to any support.
8.  etc. etc. etc.

This all seems like it should be mindlessly simple. But trying to find an actual example of this is use seems like an impossibility.

<web-item key="my_link" name="MyLink" section="system.user.options/jira-help" system="true" weight="100">
                <label key="ImportCRD"/>
                <tooltip key="ImportCRD"/>
                <link linkId="importlink">http://7432app/crdtojira/LoadCRD.aspx</link>
                <param name="isPopupLink" value="true"/>
        </web-item>

For the param are you sure it's not <param key="..."> rather than name? There seems to be different usages of this.

Also I had a quick grep through the source, and can't find many mentions of isPopupLink. Perhaps the docn is wrong. I would try popupLink and isPopup, as well as isPopupLink.

Thanks Jamie,  I was wondering about that too.  I guess I'll try different variations of that today.

I just wish Atl ass ian  would pop in and provide an answer to this relatively simple product usage request.

I tried direct support and they always come back with  "we do not support development requests".  This seems like basic usage of their product.  What isn't considered a "development request"?  Getting any form of support for this product is like pulling teeth.

Re: Proper use of "isPopupLink" ???

Well, if they're gonna pop in or popup or whatever I'd love them to answer my question first: http://forums.atlassian.com/thread.jspa?messageID=257364416 !

To be fair what you're asking is not product usage in the way that they define it. Product usage is how to set up field configs and issue type screen schemes and all that bad stuff. If they were selling a library like Infragistics or something then yes it would be product usage... Maybe there's a niche market for someone to sell development-level support...

Well..............  I've spend about an hour now , trying various key word combinations to find an answer to this problem, and nothing.  I've also spent about 1/2  hour trying every possible combination of isPopupWindow, ispopupWindow, PopupWindow, etc.

Just about every other corporate licensed software we use has support staff in their forums, as a COURTESY  to their user base.  I'm  at the point that I could never recommend JIRA to any of my other clients, unless I really hated them.

I get better advise from the "will work for food" guy on the street corner than I do from JIRA support staff.

Here we are, 19 days later , and still no response from atlassian as to what might be wrong with me  simple xml snipet.

I guessing that a response to this seemingly mundane question would take , at most,  2 minutes out of their day. At which point, I'd disappear into the background and cease to plague this forum with my question.

Come on Atlassian,  step up to the plate!
